SpellmastersSpellingCompetitionsareopentoallschoolchildrenaged15yearsoldoryounger．Therearetwodivisions：JuniorandSenior．

•WordsusedinallcompetitionswillbechosenfromTheMacquarieDictionary．

•Thecompetitionisconductedorally．Oncethepronouncerhasgiventhespellerthewordtospell，thespellershouldsaythewordaloudsothatthejudgescanhearitclearly．

•Oncethespellerhasrepeatedhisword，hehasoneandahalfminutestocompletethespelling．Atthe60-secondmark，thespellerwillbeinformed（e．g．ringofabell）thathehas30secondslefttocompletethespelling．Asecondringofthebellat90secondswillshowthattimeisup．Ifthespellerhasn'tcompletedthespellingofhiswordatthe90-secondmark，heisimmediatelydisqualified．

•Thespellermayaskthepronouncertosaythewordagain，defineit，useitinasentence，providethepartofspeechorprovidethelanguageoforigin．Thepronouncershallacceptallsuchrequestsuntilthejudgesagreethatthewordhasbeenmadecleartothespeller．Rootwordquestionswillnotbeaccepted．

•Onceaspellerstartstospelltheword，eachletterhesayscan'tbechanged．Thespellermaychoosetopauseandthencontinuewiththespellingoftheword．

•Uponconfirmationbythejudges，thespellerwillbeadvisedofacorrectorincorrectresult．Thepronouncerwillspellthewordcorrectlyimmediatelyfollowinganincorrectjudgement．

•Winners，2ndand3rdplaceswillattendFinalChampionships．
