MyIdealSchool 　　"Ifthechildrenareuntaught,theirignoranceandviceswillinfuturelifecostusmuchdearerintheirconsequencesthanitwouldhavedoneintheircorrectionbyagoodeducation"-ThomasJefferson. 　　ThisquoteimpliesthatthereisnofreedomwithouteducationwhichiswhatIhonestlybelieve.Oneofthemostimportantsourcesofeducationcomefromwhatwelearninschool.Ifthechildrendonotgetproperschooling,howcanthisapplytothem?IfIwereprincipalofahighschool,andweregiventheopportunitytodevelopthestudents'curriculum,rulesofbehaviourandcriteriaforpromotion,Iwoulddoeverythingasfairlyaspossible,sonothingisprejudicedagainstanyone.Inthefollowingparagraphs,IhavegivenmyrecommendationsaboutwhatIthinkwouldmakeagoodschoolsystem. 　　BeforeItrytochangetheattitudesofmystudents,IwouldmakesurethatIhaveacompetent,cooperartive,yetacaringteamofteacherswhohaveagoodbackgroundandrecordofteachingintheirsubjects.Theywillneedtohavetheabilitytochangeteachingbasedonwhatdoesanddoesnotworkintheclass.Theyshouldbeopen-minded,tolerantandpatient.Theywillneedtobeabletohandleanysituationtheyencounter 　　... 　　Harassment,beitphysicalorverbal,wouldbetotallyunacceptable.Ofcourse,tomakeeverythingmorebeneficialandjustified,Iwouldhaveameetingwiththemembersoffacultytodiscussanyideastheymighthave.Extra-curricularactivitiesareessentialfordevelopingcooperation,personalresponsibilityandgoodcitizenshipskillsineachstudent. 　　WhatIneedtotakeintoaccountwhenIdevelopthecurriculumisthateveryoneisdifferent,havingdifferentinterestsandpersonalities.Theyshouldalsohaveafairlygoodattendancerecord.Thestudentswouldberequiredtocompletethenecessarycourseswithpassinggradesinallsubjects.Thismakeseverythingallthemorebalanced. 　　Studentsapartfromacademicworkneedsomeextra-curricularactivitiessothatlifewillseemmorecolourfulandmeaningful.Forthisreason,Iwilltrytoproperlydividethecurriculumbetweenthetheoreticalandpracticalaspectsoflearning,aswellasagoodportionofthecurriculumtimegoingtowardsphysicaleducationandorthearts. 　　Thesestudentswillbetheleadersoftomorrow. 　　TherulesofbehaviourthatIshalldevelopwillapplynotonlytothestudents,buttothemembersoffacultyalso.Whenthestudentsarrivenewlytohighschool,aroundgrade9andeven10,IwillmakesuretheygetmoreoftheacademicsubjectssuchasMath,English,ScienceandGeographysothattheyareorientedinthoseareasbeforetheymakeanyfurtherdecisions.Thisway,studentsbecometohaveasenseofbelongingandpridefortheirschool.
