Initsearlyyears,theChildren’sBookShowwasintendedforspecialistvisitors,mainlyteachersandlibrarians.Asitbecamemorewidelyknownandsuccessful,however,familyandschoolpartiesbegantocomeinever-increasingnumbers,sothatitgrewintoarealchildren’sbookshow,andashowwithadoublepurpose.ForyearsitwasheldinvarioushallsinLondon,outgrowingeachoftheminturnuntil,inanswertoenthusiasticinvitationtobringittodifferentpartsofthecountry,thedecisionwastakentomoveoutsidethecapital,despitethedifficultiesthatwouldresult.OneyearitwasheldinLeeds,theninBristolaswellasinLondon,andnowitcomestoGlasgow.

ThegreatsuccessofthisnoveltobringtheshowtocitiesmanymilesfromLondon,whereofcoursemostbookpublishersare,hasbeenlargelyduetothesupportgiventotheorganizingcommitteebylocalbooksellers,librarians,teachers,parentsandothers.Thisyear’sshowwillagaininterestboththegeneralpublicandspecialists.Admissionswillbefree,butschoolpartiesmustbebookedforinadvance.Inalargeneartheentrancetherewillbeaself-servicebookshopwhereeverybookonshowwillbeforsale.
