“Isaid:‘Wow,that’sacave’”Dr.Clarkesaidexcitedly.“Peoplehavebeenlookingfortheseforalongtime;nowwehavefoundthem.”
Heagreedsuchcaveswouldbeperfectplacestohuntforlifeescapingfromthebitterlycold,radiation-soaked(充满辐射的),drysurface.
“Tinydropsofwatercouldcollectinside,”hesaid.“Iftherearegasescomingout,theycouldprovideenergyforawholerangeofbacteria.Acaveisalsoaprotectionfromradiation;thesurfaceofMarsisexposedtohighlevelsofspaceradiation.”
